The thing that I think that touched me the most about the French was their memorials and thankfulness for the alies that came and helped to save their country from the grips of those who would destroy them and their freedom. We were not able to see the memorials that were dedicated to the American soldiers who died during World War 2, but I can imagine that it was just as beautiful as the one that is dedicated to the British and other Europeans who died.
Just standing there and seeing the beautiful grave markers and the way that the cemetary is kept so beautifully even after all these years was so emotional to me. Even now it brings tears to my eyes tp think of how grateful these people are. Where ever you went in this town there was signs that said "Welcome to those who helped to save us, our alies and our friends". They understand the sacrifice it was for the soldiers of the other coutries to come and risk their lives in these deadly battles to help others. The memorial has written on it words of thanks. How wonderful it was to feel the beautiful spirit of peace and love there. What an experience that will always be tender to my heart.
